Finally, the long awaited holiday to the mountainous land arrives!!! We started the day early as it was going to be a long drive to Colorado, about 12 hours actually. Elliot behaved pretty well in the car, not much of a problem, especially with the help of some new toys and snacks to ease his boredom along the way. He even sang in the car, so he must had an enjoyable time.
PIKE PEAKS COG RAILWAY...
We took the "train" up to Pikes Peak, hoping see the highest mountain (abt 14000++ feet!!!). but as it was snowing the day before, we could only get up to 12000++ feet :( couldn't reach the peak and enjoy the beautiful view. Apparently, it was so beautiful that someone actually wrote the song "America the Beautiful". However even from inside the "train", we can already see why it is called America the beautiful.
Elliot slept halfway thru the ride, and didn't get a chance to step out on the only stop up in the mountain to play with the snow. Mummy has always wanted him to try to be in the snow... No such luck this time :( The ride was about an hour plus long, and during the time when he was awake he did behaves pretty well, and of course with some help of his favourite snacks. :)
GARDEN OF THE GODS
CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN ZOO
Always wanted to bring Elliot to the zoo, as he has started to be able to recognise animals... though he call them all "dog dog" or "car"... He didn't enjoyed the trip there at all, Daddy and Mummy were enjoying the animals more then him. Maybe its the weather, or it was too near his nap time, that's causes him to behave cranky. We had to cut short the trip, as we were afraid he would make the animals cranky with his loud cries.
MANITOU SPRINGS
A little old town in Manitou Springs... Didn't do much there, just a short stroll to check out the palce, before we head for lunch in a yummy Japanese Resturant.
ROYAL GORGE BRIDGE
Highest suspension bridge in US.
GREAT SAND DUNES
The road to Great Sand Dunes lead us to beautiful scenic driveways. Snowcapped mountains can be seen throughout the ride. For the first time, I feel my camera is unable to help me document what is so real and beautiful. The mountains are too huge to be squeezed into the tiny frames.
